Memorial Day 2020.

Memorial Day has always been a big day for us West Texans. It has been an annual celebration with large gatherings, parades, and ceremonies to honor the fallen. This year of uncertainty has led us with heavy hearts to cancel our normal gathering here at American Heritage, just as so many others are doing the same.

With that said, Memorial Day has not been canceled!

Memorial Day is a day set aside for us to reflect on those sacrifices made by others so that we might enjoy our way of life. Memorial Day is defined with much struggle, human resiliency, love, and loss. Today we honor those who’s selfless acts span our American history. We thank them for our own personal freedom to love our neighbor. We thank them for laying down their lives when necessary.

We thank them for saying, yes.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. -John 15:13
